Who's Got the Goods? 10/30/06
Well, it's been a pretty quiet week in the West. The only activity has been to the far north, where Montana (Big Mountain) and Washington did get a little; 6" or so. The 'big' winner for this week's snow sweepstakes were the snoqualmie resorts, with a net gain of 4.5". Next week gets a little more active, with the jet turning more westerly, allowing Tahoe to potentially get in on the action. The jet then sets up what appears to be a more normal winter location, ending the back sliders CO took advantage of. Of course, the jet can wiggle all over the place this early in the season and could easily revert back to the pattern it has had all fall. I'm a fan of historesis and believe it taker a significant event to knock it completely off it's current track.
The chart below shows some pretty meager snowpacks. Of course it is only October, so they are pretty normal. I will post an update later on what percent of normal the tracked locations are running.
I'm off to London on business this week so, I'll update this weekend.
